For shoppers
Do shoppers need to download anything or sign up?
No. Virtual Try On opens right on your product page in the shopper's browser. There's no app to install and no account or email to give.
Which devices does it work on?
Phones, tablets and computers with a camera, in a current browser. On phones the live try-on fills the screen, framed to the shopper's screen shape.
What if a shopper doesn't want to use the camera?
They can upload a photo instead and get a photo-real image of themselves wearing the product.
Does it tell shoppers their size?
No. TryOnTrend is a visual try-on: it shows how a piece looks on the shopper, not how it fits. Keep your size guide on the page.
Can shoppers keep their try-on?
Yes. After a try-on they can save or share the video. It's kept on their own device for 5 minutes so they can watch it again, and it's never uploaded to us.
Products and setup
Which products work best?
Clothing with clean product photos, ideally on a plain background: tops, jackets, dresses, knitwear and trousers. Busy lifestyle photos, flat accessories and jewelry give less convincing results. You choose which products show the button.
Does it work with my theme?
It works with Online Store 2.0 themes as an app block you place in the theme editor, and with older themes through an app embed that adds the button automatically. No code needed.
Can I choose which products show the button?
Yes. Show it on every product, or pick products and collections. Exclusions always win, so gift cards and accessories stay out.
Why doesn't the button show on a sold-out product?
By default the button shows only when a product has more than 1 in stock, so shoppers don't try on something they can't buy. You can change the number, or turn the rule off, under Products. Products that don't track inventory, or keep selling when out of stock, always show it.
Will it slow down my store?
No. The button script is under 10 KB and loads after the page. The try-on itself only loads when a shopper opens it.
Plans and billing
How does billing work?
Plans are billed by Shopify every 30 days, on your Shopify invoice, with no trial on paid plans. Each plan includes a monthly number of photo-real AI try-ons. Beyond that, each extra AI try-on is $0.75, up to a spending limit per 30 days that you approve ($250, or $500 on Pro). The Free plan has no charges at all.
What counts as a photo-real AI try-on?
One live 20-second AI video, or one AI photo from an uploaded picture. The on-device try-on is unlimited and never counts.
What happens when the AI try-ons run out?
On paid plans, extra AI try-ons are $0.75 each until you reach your spending limit. On the Free plan, and once a spending limit is reached, shoppers get the on-device try-on instead, so the button keeps working.
Can I change or cancel my plan?
Yes, any time from Billing in the app. Shopify shows the new plan for you to approve. Uninstalling the app cancels the subscription.
Privacy and data
Where does the shopper's camera video go?
The camera only starts when the shopper chooses it, after a short notice. The on-device try-on never leaves their device. For the photo-real AI try-on, the camera is streamed to our AI partner for that 20-second session; we don't store the video, and the shopper's recording stays on their own device.
What do you store about shoppers?
Anonymous try-on analytics: which product was tried, with a random id per browser tab, kept for 90 days. No names, emails, addresses or faces. Optional ratings and comments carry no identifiers.
What happens to my data if I uninstall?
All of your store's try-on data is deleted. See the privacy policy for the details.
Analytics
How do I see if it's working?
Analytics shows try-ons, add-to-carts, orders and revenue placed within 14 days of a try-on, the funnel from button to order, your most tried-on products and shopper ratings. The Activity tab lists every try-on as it happens.
I don't see revenue after try-on
Orders count when they're placed within 14 days of a completed try-on in the same browser. It can take a few seconds for a new order to appear.
